Physical Education Courses

All students will be required to take one full credit of Physical Education before graduation. Students in grades 9 and 10 should take PE one semester per year. These credits can be met by enrolling in any of the following:

 601601 (semester 1) - Physical Education I

601602 (semester 2) – Physical Education II

We strongly recommend that the 2 semester requirement for graduation be completed in grades 9 and 10. 

This course will provide students the opportunity to discover interests and develop physical skills through exploration and participation in a variety of team and individual activities. Students will learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of life-long fitness. This class takes place in the gym.

 601604 - Individual Fitness

This course will provide students the opportunity to improve and maintain a healthy mind and body through strength training and cardiovascular development.  Students will be given individualized programs to meet realistic fitness goals. This class takes place in the fitness center.

Students can register for the following Physical Education courses after fulfilling the one credit graduation requirement.

601603 - Advanced PE

This course is designed for students who have mastered the basic skills needed to participate in a variety of sports and games at a high competitive level. The course will cover the rules and regulations of the game, emphasize sportsmanship and develop teamwork. This class takes place in the gym.

Prerequisite: P.E. 1901 or 1902
Credit: ½ per semester
Grades: 10 through 12

- Unified Sports

This course is an inclusive team sports-based program that unites individuals with disabilities and individuals without disabilities as teammates. The course will cover the rules and regulations of the game while emphasizing sportsmanship, compassion, and teamwork. The class will run for one school year and students will be required to participate in a minimum of three after-school unified events.  This class takes place in the gym.

Prerequisite: P.E. 1901 or 1902 (1 full credit of Physical Education)

Any student having a physical disability must submit a doctor's report to the school nurse. This is required each year the student is enrolled in a physical education course.
