Welding Lab Grand Opening
On Monday, September 30, 2024, Westbrook High School hosted a ribbon cutting for its newly enlarged and renovated Welding and Metals Fabrication lab space, made possible by grants from the American Welding Society, CT Supplemental Perkins Enhancement, the Westbrook Foundation and financial resources from the Town of Westbrook and the Board of Education. Guests included Congressman Joe Courtney, CT Chief Manufacturing Officer Paul Lavoie, State Senator Norm Needleman, State Representatives Devin Carney and Chris Aniskovich, Willie Barber from Electric Boat, Tim Fox from SENEDIA, Westbrook Board of Selectmen and Board of Education and well as representatives from schools around CT, business and industry, and the Naval Submarine School in Groton.
As a result of this renovation, Westbrook students will receive skills and training to prepare them for well-paid careers as CT's next generation of makers, builders and creators.
